Julio Roberto is a Cuban-American contemporary artist who loves the vibrant colors of acrylic paints. He uses this medium on canvas, bottles, wood and anything that feeds his creativity. Julio was born and raised within Miami’s vibrant Little Havana community. His parents are Cuban immigrants. He is a self-taught artist that has been creating since he was a young boy. His art draws inspiration from the colors of Miami and the Caribbean. Julio is highly influenced by Afro-Caribbean art and tones. He channels the island of his parents in every stroke. He regards Picasso, Matisse, Modigliani and Basquiat as his favorite historical masters. However, he constantly looks to the art of Cuban painters such as Jose Mijares, Rene Portocarrero, Amelia Pelaez, Pedro Pablo Oliva and Wilfredo Lam for inspiration.
